Terms of Use for Contributions

Thank you for supporting our mission to save animal lives. By making a contribution through this page, you agree to the following Terms of Use. Please read them carefully.

All contributions made through this page are voluntary and intended to support the operations, programs, and mission of Because I Give a Buck, a for-profit organization dedicated to animal welfare. Contributions are not investments and do not confer ownership, equity, or financial return.

By contributing, you acknowledge and agree that:

• Funds will be used at the sole discretion of Because I Give a Buck to support animal rescue, care, rehabilitation, operational costs, and related initiatives.
• While we strive to use contributions effectively to save animal lives, we cannot guarantee specific outcomes for individual animals or cases.

All contributions are final and non-refundable unless otherwise required by applicable law. Please ensure the accuracy of your contribution amount before submitting.

We may provide updates, stories, or reports about how contributions are making an impact. However:

• Updates may be general and not tied to specific contributions.
• We are not obligated to provide individualized reports for each contribution.

Because I Give a Buck is a for-profit entity. Contributions made through this page:

• Are not tax-deductible as charitable donations, unless the link on the top of each page with the button "get a tax deductible receipt" is used.
• Otherwise, should not be treated as charitable gifts for tax purposes.

Please consult a tax professional if you have questions.

By making a contribution, you represent and warrant that:

• You are authorized to use the payment method provided.
• The information you submit is accurate and complete.
• Your contribution complies with all applicable laws and regulations.

Contributions are processed through third-party payment providers. By contributing, you also agree to the terms and privacy policies of those providers. We are not responsible for errors, delays, or security issues arising from third-party services.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Because I Give a Buck shall not be liable for:

• Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your contribution.
• Any perceived or actual failure to achieve specific animal welfare outcomes.

We reserve the right to update or modify these Terms of Use at any time. Changes will be effective upon posting to this page. Continued use of the contribution page constitutes acceptance of any updates.

Because I Give a Buck

This policy establishes clear procedures for managing, tracking, and using all funds received by Because I Give a Buck to support our mission of rescuing and caring for animals. It applies to all donations, contributions, and revenue received, whether tax-deductible or non-tax-deductible.

1. Tax-Deductible Donations ($25 or more) 
   • Processed via the Austin Community Foundation on behalf of The Paul and Deborah Albers Foundation 
   • Subject to all applicable nonprofit reporting, accounting, and tax laws 
   • Used exclusively to support charitable activities as approved by the fiscal sponsor 

1. Non-Tax-Deductible Contributions ($1–24) 
   • Processed through Because I Give a Buck
   • Contributions are voluntary and not tax-deductible 
   • Used to support operational expenses and animal rescue efforts 
   • Clearly labeled to donors that contributions are non-deductible 

Funds will be allocated according to the following priorities:

A. Animal Rescue & Care

• Veterinary expenses 
• Food, shelter, and supplies 
• Transportation and rescue operations 

B. Operational Expenses

• Website hosting and technology 
• Marketing and communications to support mission 
• Volunteer and staff support related to animal care 

C. Administrative Transparency

• Keep accurate records of all income and expenses 
• Separate accounts for tax-deductible vs. non-deductible funds 
• Monthly reconciliation of accounts 

1. All funds are deposited promptly into the appropriate account: 
   • Tax-deductible funds → Fiscal sponsor account 
   • Non-taxable contributions → Business account 

1. Access to funds is restricted to authorized personnel only 
2. All withdrawals and expenditures require documented approval 
3. Maintain receipts, invoices, and financial records for a minimum of 7 years 

• Publish an annual summary of fund use on the website (general allocation, not individual donor info) 
• Provide receipts for all tax-deductible donations via Austin Community Foundation 
• Non-taxable contributions are acknowledged but do not generate IRS tax receipts 

• Refunds are issued only in cases of duplicate transactions or processing errors 
• No refunds for voluntary contributions under $25 unless approved by management 

• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations regarding fundraising, animal welfare, and financial reporting 
• Maintain transparency to protect donors, stakeholders, and animals 

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure compliance, accuracy, and alignment with our mission. Any changes will be documented and communicated to stakeholders.
